Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative conducted a demonstration for Logan County first responders on responding to calls with power lines that are down due to auto accident, storms, etc.  They brought in a demonstration trailer that is powered and they demonstrated the effects of energized powerlines.  It gave me a very healthy respect for the danger of power lines and what electric company lineman have to deal with.  Since down power lines can energize the ground, stay far away from downed power lines!!  In the second picture, you can see a flame that results from contact with a live power pole.

The demonstration was attended by the Logan County Sheriff's Office, Office of Emergency Management, Logan County E.M.S., many volunteer fire departments, the Arkansas State Forestry Commission, and others.
